This may sadden some of my erstwhile readers, but one of my biggest pet peeves are people who have study groups. Why do you have so much damn structure in your lives? Why can't you get together with books and hang out without calling it a "study group"? And why do the words "in my study group" EVER cross your lips in class?

Exams start on Friday, and all I can think about is the Ballad of Brave Sir Robin...

Oh Kurt Vonnegut, we're going to miss you -- because you were odd and nutty and had the most imaginative ways for ending the world.

My first painting! (Not counting those in kindergarten.) It does seem strange that it's my first painting -- I guess my elementary and high schools were really cheap, because all we ever did were pen & inks and pencil drawings.

This bar exam application process is RIDICULOUS. I have to submit:

- $565, certified, check, cashier's check or money order only
- 24-page character and fitness questionnaire, original and one copy "igned" [sic] and notarized
- Current credit report (wtf?!)
- Handwriting sample
- 5-page application form, signed and notarized
- Certificate from law school
- Fingerprints (wtf?!)
- Passport-style photographs
- Floppy disk (!!) with exported application files

I don't want to buy a house with your money, I just want to be a lawyer!

I'm done with Marden! No more thankless bitchwork for me!

Except for the thank-you letters to the judges. After that, I get to start writing my A paper (no, not redrafting), and then I can study for my 3 exams and 1 take-home.

My last semester rocks, man.

I hate suits. I used to like them because I generally look better in structured things, but this is the second-last day of the Marden competition and I've decided that life isn't worth living if you can't be comfortable and in a pair of drawstring pants all the time. Which basically means I need to move to Silicon Valley and be a trademarks attorney or something. Shoot.

Major donors to moot court and law schools turn up in the most unexpected places. For those of us who know Mr. Podell in a thank-you-for-giving-us-money capacity, it's...awkward?

Why did no one ever tell me that ctl-tab lets you tab between tabs?!

JP:   I feel like that was written by committee.
Me:   You mean Law Revue?
JP:   No, Battlestar Galactica.

And yeah, I know, most people won't find this funny.
